Giens Peninsula

This work of art was created as part of the second edition of Les Partisan.e.s in Marseille. Initiated by Caroline Victor, this incredible creative process is an opportunity for artists and artisans from the South of France to collaborate on a joint project. The story of Mâla is fueled by a deep love for beauty, handcrafting, and materials.

The combination of ceramics, embroidery, and wood creates a harmonious dialogue between the materials and gives real coherence to this work created by six hands.

We wanted to work with the technical constraints of each material, without allowing one to alter the work of the other, but rather connecting them to each other.

An organic and airy work, this string of wooden beads and embroidered ceramic adds an artistic dimension to an interior. To create a more intimate space, several garlands can be arranged to form a screen. Mâla can be created for architectural and interior design projects, for individuals or professionals. We can adjust the colors, compositions, and dimensions, and integrate a light source. Each piece will be unique and can enhance an interior.

Three materials:
wood: walnut, plane tree, and oak spheres
ceramic: hand-modeled balls in three types of clay, typical Provençal earthenware, white stoneware, and red stoneware with chamotte
thread: abstract embroidery, all curves and waves, is placed on some of the balls. Using natural materials such as cotton, wool, silk, etc.

colors with Mediterranean accents: indigo, terracotta, red, beige.

Finishes that are soft, subtle, and imperfect to highlight the handiwork on the material.

To tie it all together, a marine rope with a skillfully orchestrated knot adds poetry and symbolism to our project and highlights both the artistic and artisanal work.

NOTES:

Include the article capture in Elle Déco and add the Elle Décoration logo.

Include the press kit in PDF format if possible.
